Back in the Kitchen Garden

As June draws to a close all my students are safely through their final exams, and we finally have more time for the important things in life like the kitchen garden and afternoon tea. It has been a strangely slow year with many things only just starting to crop. We have battled with the blackbirds for the redcurrants this year but largely abandoned the cherry crop to them and a group of very noisy crows who wake us far too early most mornings. So, a quick spin in the kitchen produced gooseberry semifreddo (not photographed) and Black Pepper and Rosewater Pavlovas courtesy of Nigella- the combination may sound strange, but the pepper is very subtle, and the rosewater creates Turkish delight flavours that were well received. It seemed rude not to photograph the result in the studio.
