Carcass Continued

After the day trip to West Point the day before, we now had time to explore the rest of the island courtesy of the loan of a Landrover Discovery and a useful list of suggestions. Crossing over the high part of the island we encountered a pair of feisty Red-backed Hawks with a nest high in the crags. Although very distant in photographic terms, the view was good.

We continued on to the ponds in the Northwest of the island where there were numerous geese and teals.

On the beach there were our first elephant seals of the trip, some very chilled, others rather more bad-tempered which pretty much sums up elephant seal behaviour overall.

Small birds flit around foraging amongst the tufts of grass and goose droppings which are extremely plentiful.
